The Tribit StormBox Pro is a portable Bluetooth speaker that is available only in black. Its IP67 rating ensures it is waterproof and dustproof, making it ideal for outdoor adventures. The speaker also features a plastic handle on top, allowing you to hang it wherever you like.

The Tribit StormBox Pro (upgraded) offers several enhancements over its predecessor. It features a USB-C charging port for convenient charging and an improved battery life of up to 24 hours. It is equipped with the latest Bluetooth version 5.3, a built-in power bank feature, and an advanced DSP chip, which enhances sound performance and meets the demands of a modern, on-the-go lifestyle.

Tribit StormBox Pro: Design

The Tribit StormBox Pro speaker features a sleek, cylindrical shape with a slightly curved top and a flat base. It is covered in a durable, textured fabric mesh that provides both aesthetic appeal and functionality, enhancing sound quality. Its shape reminds me of Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II.

The speaker’s compact size (9.6″D x 18″W x 9.6″H) and lightweight build (2.57 pounds) make it highly portable. Its IP67 rating ensures it is dustproof and waterproof, making it a reliable companion for poolside parties and beach outings. The speaker’s waterproof and dustproof capabilities were validated by submerging it in water and exposing it to dust, affirming its IP67 rating. Additionally, the speaker is designed with a sturdy handle attached to the top, making it easy to carry and ideal for portable use.

The control panel is located on the top, featuring prominent buttons for volume, power, Bluetooth connectivity, and the XBass feature.

The speaker has 6 physical buttons in 2 rows on top of the speaker: from left to right, one row has volume down, play/pause, and volume up buttons, and the second row has Bluetooth, power, and XBass feature buttons.

In a durability test, our test team members dropped it from a 5-foot height to be sure that it can handle accidental drops. Thanks to its durable ABS+PC/TPE materials, which promise longevity, it can withstand rough handling and harsh environments.

Tribit StormBox Pro: Sound Quality

The StormBox Pro (upgraded) is engineered to deliver high-quality, 360-degree immersive sound. This Bluetooth speaker features a 3-inch subwoofer with 3-ohm impedance, two 40mm speakers with 4-ohm impedance each, and two 65mm x 50mm passive radiators. These components work together to provide 40 watts of powerful sound with deep bass, clear midrange, and crisp highs, ensuring a rich and balanced audio with 360° experience.

The StormBox Pro has patented XBass technology, which further enhances bass by amplifying low frequencies to deliver a richer, more powerful sound experience, making music feel more dynamic and immersive. However, some users feel that on some music tracks, it overpowers mids and treble. Additionally, the speaker’s sound signature tends to lean towards the bass-heavy side, impacting the overall balance.

Additionally, the Tribit StormBox Pro features an AK7755EN DSP with Mono ADC Stereo CODEC, which combines multiple functions (ADC, codec, pre-amps) into a single chip. This integration simplifies circuit design and reduces board space, leading to improved sound quality with a more compact and efficient design. Moreover, its low energy consumption rate enhances overall performance and ensures prolonged listening experiences without compromising audio fidelity.

If you are looking for heavy bass and a similar powerful sound but with more portability and Aux input, Tribit StormBox 2 is also worth trying. It has a built-in power bank feature.

Tribit StormBox Pro: Battery Life

The Tribit StormBox Pro is renowned for its powerful, long-lasting battery, making it an ideal choice for trips and events. With up to 24 hours of playtime per full charge, as claimed by Tribit, you can enjoy music all day and night without worrying about recharging.

During our testing, we conducted multiple experiments to verify the 24-hour playtime. We found that with the volume set at 60% and the XBass feature turned off, the speaker indeed lasts 24 hours without utilizing the power bank feature to charge a phone or other gadget. However, if you activate the XBass feature and play heavy bass music at 100% volume, the playtime reduces to approximately 11 or 12 hours.

The Tribit StormBox Pro features three drivers, including a 3-inch subwoofer with a 3 Ω impedance. Lower impedance drivers draw more current and potentially use more battery, but the StormBox Pro’s design balances power consumption and sound output to maximize efficiency.

In its price range, the Tribit StormBox Pro stands out with its advanced features. It offers a powerful 73Wh (10000mAh, 7.3V) Li-ion battery designed to keep it playing for 24 hours. However, it takes about 7 hours to fully charge the battery from 0% to 100%. Additionally, the speaker offers a built-in power bank. This feature allows you to recharge your mobile phone or other gadgets, making it perfect for camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

The speaker is equipped with a robust 73Wh (10000mAh, 7.3V) Li-ion battery designed to keep it playing for 24 hours. However, it takes about 7 hours to charge the battery fully from 0% to 100%.

Tribit StormBox Pro: Connectivity

The Tribit StormBox Pro supports Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity with a range of up to 100 feet, allowing you to move freely without losing connection. Bluetooth connectivity was tested up to its 100-foot range, in open space without any resistance between mobile and speaker, confirming stable connections and the effectiveness of the multi-point pairing feature. You can also pair it with another Tribit StormBox Pro for true stereo sound, enhancing your listening experience.

Tribit StormBox Pro supports TWS connection, so you can pair 2 speakers for stereo sound and a big sound stage for large gatherings and parties.

The older version of Tribit StormBox Pro features Bluetooth 5.0, but this upgraded version has Bluetooth 5.3 and a Qualcomm QCC Bluetooth chip. The Qualcomm QCC Bluetooth chip is famous for its low latency and high-accuracy audio codecs, such as aptX, aptX Adaptive, and aptX HD. These codecs ensure clear and detailed sound reproduction while minimizing data loss during wireless transmission.

However, Tribit StormBox Pro does not support 3.5mm Aux connectivity. But, the latest launch, Tribit StormBox 2, does have 3.5mm connectivity, similar playtime, 34 watts of output power, similar TWS, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

Final verdict

After over 30 hours of testing, our team concluded that the Tribit StormBox Pro is a reliable and versatile speaker. It features a built-in power bank and a handle for easy portability. Its durability is affirmed by an IP67 waterproof rating, which we verified by submerging the speaker in water for 30 minutes without issue. The StormBox Pro also boasts a connectivity range of up to 100 feet, confirmed through extensive testing in open areas, ensuring stable and efficient wireless performance.

While the Tribit StormBox Pro has a few minor drawbacks, such as the absence of an AUX input and a relatively long charging time, it offers excellent value with its advanced features and dependable design.

For budget-conscious buyers, the Tribit StormBox 2 is a great option. It provides an AUX input, though it has slightly lower sound output and lacks the power bank feature.

For those willing to invest more, the JBL Xtreme 4 is a top-tier choice. It delivers audiophile-quality sound, enhanced durability, customizable EQ settings, a long-lasting 30-hour battery life, and includes a built-in power bank.

In summary, the Tribit StormBox Pro stands out as an excellent speaker with powerful sound and modern, in-demand features.
